Bletchley girl wows X Factor judges

Milton Keynes star Natalie Kassanga received an “out of this world” accolade from X Factor judges when her group Alien performed on Saturday.

Natalie and her five bandmates were given a standing ovation, four firm yes votes and rocketed through to boot camp.

The 18-year-old, who has just achieved a triple distinction in her musical theatre studies, first hit local headlines when she was just 11 years old.

She starred in the West End performance of Lion King as the lead role Nala.

She was also crowned winner of national talent competition UK-Unsigned in 2008.

The Bletchley teenager described the X Factor experience as “amazing” and said the performance went better than the band had ever thought possible.

The six girls met at dance classes and formed Alien 18 months ago.

“We got on really well and everyone said we should work together as a group so that’s what we’ve done and we’re absolutely loving it,” said Natalie.

Dressed in glittery costumes and studded caps, the group[ gave a high tempo performance of Pump It by the Black Eyed Peas.

Natalie, who is pictured far left, said: “The whole X Factor experience has been incredible.

She has also praised Northampton college for its support and thanked her tutors for,allowing her time off to go to London to rehearse and prepare.

“If I could say one thing to students starting out at Northampton College this week it would be just that – keep working hard,” she said.

“There will always be setbacks along the way but stay dedicated and work hard and the breaks will come. It’s really important to believe in what you’re doing, you’ve got to enjoy it, you can’t just do something for the sake of it, you’ve got to be passionate about it.”
