A blind businessman has vowed to reform laws which determine the outcome of divorce and residency following his own “nightmare” break up.
Neil Barnfather says he has been almost destroyed by a bitter divorce and custody battle over the past 20 months.
The 33-year-old dad is campaigning for improvements to be made in family and civil laws to help others avoid such anguish.
“My health has suffered to the extent that I collapsed in court and an ambulance was called. The stress, anxiety and pressure has been unimaginable and awful,” he said.
“The family court system should be designed to evaluate parents for who they are, and, balance a person’s conduct and actions in line with the children’s needs, I do not feel that this happens presently in our system.”
Neil who was a househusband and carer, has been involved in numerous businesses. He was last year awarded an MBE for his services to the telecoms industry and visally impaired people.
He said he is determined to ensure others are spared similar experiences.
