MP Mark Lancaster went all green-fingered when he joined The Conservation Volunteers to help lay hedges along one of the city’s red routes.
The Conservation Volunteers have been organising practical, green activities in towns and villages for years and are looking for more volunteers to help them to keep green spaces attractive for people and wildlife alike.
Mr Lancaster volunteered to do his bit to help the group and decided to turn his hand to hedge laying.
The MP for Milton Keynes North, said: “Once I had seen the guys in action I thought I might ruin the precision of the hedge laying, so I took more of a back seat role, it is true what they say it really is an art.”
Monique van Assouw, community project officer at The Conservation Volunteers, said: “It is fabulous to get out there, do something physical and immediately see the improvements we have achieved. We receive a lot of positive reactions from passers-by.”
The Conservation Volunteers are looking for more volunteers to help them to maintain local green spaces. If you could spare some time, please contact Monique on 01296 330033 or via email email@example.com
