AN empty supermarket, an empty trolley and two minutes to stock up was the prize waiting for one lucky customer this week.
Bob Booth from Woolstone entered into the Waitrose raffle to raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Support charity and was selected as the winner to have an all-expenses paid trolley dash around the supermarket on Tuesday, January 5.
In all, the competition raised an impressive £1,337.18 for the charity from ticket sales. When asked how he felt about winning ahead of the dash, regular Waitrose customer Bob said: “I was a bit surprised as I had forgotten I had entered. I’m looking forward to the event though – I suspect it will be one of those events that afterwards you realise you should have done things differently.”
At the trolley dash, Booth headed straight for the meat counter, pictured right, and finished at the Champagne aisle as he stocked up on his favourite goodies from the store.
Waitrose Milton Keynes manager Ralph Teer said: “We are very proud to be supporting Macmillan through this Trolley Dash.
“We encouraged all our customers to support this fundraising activity by purchasing a ticket in the store.”
