Body tragically found in river at Newport Pagnell

The body of a 92-year-old man was recovered from the river at Newport Pagnell on Saturday morning.

Police were called to the River Ouzel close to St Peter and St Paul’s church just before 10am.

Fire engines from Newport Pagnell and Bletchley attended to assist and the fire service rescue boat was at the scene.

The relatives of the deceased have been informed and no foul play is suspected.

A police spokesman said: “We were called at around 9.55am on 12 August to reports of a body in the river. Officers attended the scene and a 92-year-old local man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.”

The spokesman added: “There are no suspicious circumstances and a file is being prepared for the coroner.”
