City shoppers at thecentre:mk will be able to get free advice on cancer care and support, thanks to a new partnership with the Macmillan service at Milton Keynes Hospital.
The hospital’s service will be running a regular stand at the Boots store in Crown Walk to coincide with various cancer awareness months. The first stand will be in the Boots store on Thursday to mark lung cancer awareness month.
Becky Parker, an advanced nurse practitioner for Milton Keynes Hospital’s Macmillan information and support service, said: “We are really pleased to have this new partnership. Education is a powerful tool in the fight against cancer and this partnership gives us an opportunity to reach out to people who may not know about our services or who need more information. Just something as simple as encouraging people with symptoms to see a doctor sooner rather than later can potentially save a life.”
Boots UK and Macmillan Cancer Support are working together to ensure everyone affected by cancer, wherever they are in the UK, has access the best cancer information and support in their local community. Becky has been working closely with the area’s store managers to help them understand more about the cancer services available locally. Talks are already underway about a similar partnership with the Bletchley Boots store.
