THE council has been ordered to pay £16,000 to Campbell Park Parish Council after they appealed a decision to change their borders.
Faced with losing Newlands and Willen, Campbell Park Parish Council appealed against the council’s plans, and got the ruling overturned last Thursday.
Milton Keynes Council initially announced plans to change the boundaries back in December 2010, and a working group established that the two estates should be transferred to Great Linford Parish Council, while the Campbell Park estate would under the jurisdiction of Central Milton Keynes Town Council.
However, residents protested and the Parish took the matter to the High Court and were given the reprieve last week.
Milton Keynes Council was ordered to recind the plan and to pay £16,000 in legal fees to cover the cost for Campbell Park Parish Council, meaning the total cost for the council is in excess of £30,000.
