POLICE are out in force in Milton Keynes tonight as a gang of ‘70 armed youths’ has been rampaging through the city.

Thames Valley Police has made four arrests as several shop windows have been smashed by the gang who are armed with bricks, bottles and baseball bats.

The trouble started at Coral bookmakers in Queensway, Bletchley at 8pm.

One police officer said: “There were 70 of them, they were armed with bricks, bottles and sticks. They were smashing car windows, hitting everything.”

There were reports earlier in the evening of minor disturbances at potential troublespots including Beanhill and Netherfield.

But by 9.30pm the fear of further disorder was still concentrated in central Bletchley, where around 20 police officers were on guard at the railway station.
