Britain's worst serial rapist downloaded child porn while in Milton Keynes mental health secure unit

A man regarded as Britain's worst serial rapist downloaded hundreds of child porn images on a computer he had smuggled into a Milton Keynes mental health unit.

Richard Baker was serving four life sentences at Chadwick Lodge in Eaglestone, which is renowned for its sex offender treatment.

The evil 51-year-old, who was due to be considered for parole next year, became obsessed with child rape while in the unit, a court heard.

He persuaded a friend and her mother to hide a 10-inch Samsung tablet in the back of a wooden picture frame. T hen he used the forbidden computer on its 3G network to download hundreds of images showing children as young as four being raped.

Judge Francis, sitting at Aylebury Crown Court, sentenced him to an additional six years.

He told Baker: “I believe you will rape again if you are released... You are obsessed with sex and your interest has now moved to children.”

The judge added: “I think you are once of the most dangerous men I have ever had the displeasure of trying.”

A former DJ, Baker is suspected of raping more than 100 women. Many of them were teenagers in Spain, where he worked in discos.

He was orginally sentenced to Broadmoor but moved four years ago to Chadwick Lodge, a medium secure unit where patients are sometimes allowed outings into the community.

It was shortly after this move that he managed to get the tablet smuggled in.

The court heard he was finally caught when he used it to set up a Facebook account and tried to befriend a therapist.

A spokesman for Chadwick Lodge said: “We take this incident extremely seriously and constantly review our procedures to ensure we have the tightest possible security.”
