Business gives free eye tests to emergency services

A MILTON Keynes business is offering free eye examinations and hearing tests for emergency service crews in the run up to Christmas.

The Specsavers opticians and hearing centre in Silbury Arcade, Milton Keynes, is offering the free service to police, fire and ambulance crews throughout December.

Milton Keynes Specsavers optical director Raj Shah said: ‘The darker driving conditions over the winter can greatly affect how well we can see. Other factors such as dazzling headlights and tiredness only make this worse. These conditions could affect the emergency services who will be working long hours throughout the dark nights to save lives.

‘We feel it is important to give something back to these people who provide an important service to the local community where driving plays a central role in their job.’

Hearing aid audiologist Qazi Ehtsham Rashid, who runs the in-store hearing centre says: ‘With exposure to raucous revellers and screaming sirens going off our servicemen in Milton Keynes should drop in and take advantage of our quick three minute hearing screening service to see if they can benefit from our full hearing test.’

Hearing tests at Specsavers are free and without obligation for all customers.

Emergency service staff wanting to book their free eye examination or hearing test can visit the store at 35-37 Silbury Arcade or call 01908 662 116 for more information, remembering to bring along their ID card to the appointment.
