Charity in call for help from the city’s business leaders

An appeal has been issued to companies to support a cancer youngster’s £150,000 charity fundraising target.

Four-year-old Henry Allen was diagnosed with High Risk Neuroblastoma shortly before his third birthday.

Since then he has undergone chemotherapy, surgery, clinical immunotherapy trials and will shortly be undergoing radiotherapy treatment in a bid to beat this cancer.

The Henry Allen Appeal has organised a charity ball on September 14 and is appealing for local businesses to support the event.

The appeal aims to raise funds for potentially lifesaving treatment overseas should Henry relapse and no longer be eligible for treatment in the UK.

Lisa Forrest, ball organiser, said: “Interest in the ball has been amazing with plenty of people reserving their tickets.

“What we really need now is the backing of local businesses that can assist through sponsoring the event, donating prizes for the raffle and auction or booking tables and giving their staff a lovely evening out.

“Whilst all the performers and support staff volunteer their time we still have costs that need to be met such as venue hire, catering, marketing and insurance.

“The aim is that we can cover these costs through sponsorship and that the money raised from ticket sales can be given directly to the charity.”

The ball, to be held at DoubleTree Hilton Milton Keynes, will be hosted by MKFM and will include a three course meal, disco, auction prizes including a signed Arsenal shirt and other sporting memorabilia as well as live music from local artist Nicky Prince.
