A Milton Keynes company decided to stay put in the new city despite the flirting of other towns when it became known that it was looking for much larger premises.

Virtual reality learning business Skills2Learn made a recent move from Opal Drive, in Fox Milne, to The Learning House in Snowdon Drive, Winterhill, with no loss of working time.

Dr Majid Al Kader, Skills2Learn’s managing director, said: “We are an online software company so we could have moved quite literally anywhere. We had some very tempting offers elsewhere but in the end we chose to stay focus our future UK expansion in Milton Keynes.

“We had been in our previous offices for over five years and have found Milton Keynes to be a great place to do business and find great staff. However our old office was bursting at the seams as a result of recent recruitment and we urgently needed to find somewhere with much more space and dedicated car parking.”

Skills2Learn says it was swamped by calls from property developers and estate agents offering new corporate headquarters located as far afield as Northampton, Bedford, Luton and even Central London.

However, having looked at all the options they decided nowhere else could match Milton Keynes for convenience, communication links and for access to the right calibre of local recruits.

And it looks like the firm will be continuing to grow. Dr Al Kader said: “ “As a result of several recent large contract wins in the Middle East we are still expanding. Two new software developers will be arriving for work on May 1. It will be great to welcome them to the team and to our new building.”
