A CONSTRUCTION company set up a whole new department after research revealed a gap in the market for tailored building repairs and maintainance.
Terrapin, based in Bond Avenue, Bletchley, has appointed Phil Atkins as business manager – maintenance and improvements – to head up a new division at the company.
Phil, who lives in Milton Keynes, has over 10 years’ experience in facilities management and building services, having worked for a number of other companies in this sector. His department offers dedicated building repair and maintenance services, including extensions or refurbishments, to both the domestic and commercial markets.
The Terrapin Group has occupied, developed and externally leased their 21 acre estate in Mount Farm since the late 1970s. It offers the services within Mount Farm and sees offering services to a wider local area to be a natural progression.
Adrian Day, Terrapin’s MD said: “Our research showed that there is a gap in the market for a local company that can offer a flexible, tailored building repairs and maintenance service to both the commercial and domestic property sector. This is an exciting venture for us, but with Phil’s expertise in the industry and our extensive resources, it means we have an attractive offer to local homeowners and businesses.”
Terrapin carried out research into the repair and maintenance needs of businesses, schools and householders in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas – including Newport Pagnell, Buckingham, Bedford and Olney.
This revealed that there was a lack of dedicated repairs and maintenance services for occupied commercial premises, including schools, as well as privately owned properties, with significant opportunities in the refurbishment of domestic premises.
Mr Atkins said: “Our aim is to offer a very flexible service to meet customer needs and, as a well resourced, local company, we are in a strong position to do this.”
Terrapin operates to ISO90001 quality standards and is renowned for its right first time approach. This means that every component is checked before leaving the factory.
