Unemployed people in Stantonbury and Greenleysmay get more opportunities to find work after the opening of two new job clubs.

The clubs will offer employability advice to local residents who are unemployed, facing redundancy or returning to work as part of the Neighbourhood Employment Programme.

The Stantonbury Job Club, which launched on Thursday at the TeenZone, will provide all unemployed local residents with advice and guidance from qualified staff. Services offered include, support with job searches, CV writing tips, mock interviews, support with job applications, work experience with local employers, and links to further education or training.

The TeenZone Café will run alongside the Stantonbury Job Club offering residents a place to use the internet search facilities provided to find employment opportunities in Milton Keynes.

One-to-one employability advice and guidance sessions will also be available for booking at the Greenleys Job Club at Milton Keynes Council’s Children and Families – North, which is based at the Greenleys Centre.

In the past two years, the NEP has supported more than 1,500 people through community based Job Clubs, helping more than 440 people back into both paid employment and work experience placements.

A further 1,100 have gone on to receive employability training to improve their skills.

Tina Strutton, employment support officer for Milton Keynes Council, said: “These new services are two of 16 drop-in Job Clubs in designated neighbourhoods across Milton Keynes that have been established by the NEP. Information, advice and guidance is also offered through one-to-one sessions in a further five areas.

“Our aim is to support individual residents by having a professional advisor who they can talk to and who can help them find the best route back into employment or training.”

The NEP is delivered in partnership with Adult Continuing Education (ACE). Other organisations that support the programme include MK College, Job Centre Plus, MK Mind, the National Careers Service, Skillscentre:MK and Women and Work.

The Stantonbury Job Club drop-in service at TeenZone and the Greenleys Job Club advice and guidance sessions are open from 10am to 12pm every Thursday. For more information or to arrange a visit to one of our Job Clubs, visit or call 01908 556700.
