Santander has won the Share Award 2015 for the service provided to individual shareholders in the UK, for the second year running.
The bank, which has its UK HQ in Milton Keynes, was the first recipient of this newly created award category in 2014, and has continually prioritised transparency of information and building relationships with shareholders since its share was first floated on the London Stock Exchange in 2005.
Pilar Vega de Seoane, Director of Santander Shareholder Relations, UK, said: “This award reflects Santander’s attention to UK shareholders over the last 10 years. We have consistently valued our individual shareholders worldwide through building personal relationships with them via a range of different channels and providing clear and transparent financial information.”
The Santander share is traded on nine different markets, including on the London Stock Exchange with the ticker name BCN, and has 3.6 million shareholders around the world, 1.5 million of whom are in the UK.
Santander is currently ranked as the first bank in the Eurozone and 14th in the world by market capitalisation. It recently communicated its plans and targets for 2018 at the London Investor Day held in September.
Santander shareholders have also been recognised by the British Heart Foundation for donations made to Santander’s Charity of the Year partner in 2015. Santander Shareholder Relations was honoured to be invited to a special reception at St James Palace hosted by the British Heart Foundation and the Duke of Edinburgh. UK shareholders have raised over £50,000 for the charity through AGM voting and their participation in the 2015 Santander Shareholder Charity Golf Tournament which was held all over the UK.
