The director of Milton Keynes shopping centre has left his job to work thousands of miles away in Kuwait.
Robert Hall has said goodbye to thecentre:mk to become mall director at The Avenues, the large shopping centre in Kuwait.
Mr Hall led thecentre:mk through a period of change into a retail destination.
But he hit troubled waters last year when the CMK application for Primark was lost after a fierce battle with local opponents.
Mr Hall felt so strongly that he walked out of a meeting during one heated discussion about the centre’s planning blueprint.
Nevertheless he said he is proud of what has been achieved for the centre as a whole and thanked his colleagues. “Having been fortunate enough to work with such an outstanding team, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here,” he said.
His interim replacement is Sue Anderson-Brown from the Unite Group.
Mr Hall’s departure coincides with thecentre:mk coming under sole ownership of long-standing investor Hermes Real Estate Management.
The multi million pound property deal was confirmed three weeks ago.
