Work to demolish the Little Chef on the roundabout site south of Milton Keynes is due to start on Monday (March 18). Mr Tomkins plans to open the new restaurant for 24 hours a day and employ people across three shifts each day. Most of the workers will be part-time.

Redevelopment of the site is set to cost in excess of £1million with McDonald’s buying the land and building the restaurant, with Mr Tomkins taking on the franchise.

On Twitter, news of the new opening brought concern that it could lead to more litter on the A5.‏@MK_COURIERS tweeted: “I only hope the usual associated debris doesn’t end up littering up and down the A5.”
