Milton Keynes Sea and Marine Cadets collected first place in county piping and junior drill competitions – but only after overcoming one unexpected obstacle.

The youngsters almost didn’t make it to RAF HAlton last weekend (March 9-10) after their bus broke down.

But the unit was able to compete against opponents from Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire after they were loaned a minibus by the Chiltern Sea Cadets.

And they made the most of it by collecting first places in team piping and individual piping and the junior drill all collecting first places. The Marine detachment’s Corporal also won best squad commander.

Sea Cadets parade on Tuesday and Thursday, while Marine Cadets do so on Wednesday and Friday. They can be contacted on 01908 561689 if you are interested in signing your child up, or at if you want to donate to their minibus fund.
