Call for Milton Keynes Youth Cabinet nominations

Anyone aged 11-18 who lives in the borough can put themselves forward for election to represent their peers and give a voice to young people. Thirty-six YCAB members will be elected, two Members of Youth Parliament and two deputies.

The successful members will work together, holding regular meetings with Milton Keynes Council elected councillors and officers to ensure that the views of young people are heard and to continue to help make the borough a better place to live.

The young people will represent the North or South consistencies and will be required to attend regular meetings, talk with constituents, organise and run campaigns, meet with decision makers, attend residential trips, conferences and lots more.

Those elected to UK Youth Parliament will share the views and concerns of local young people with the Government and UK-wide service providers, debating key issues in the House of Commons.

Current UK Youth Parliament Member for Milton Keynes North, Amber Saunders said: “It’s really important for young people to have their say on the decisions and changes that will affect them. Being part of the MK Youth Cabinet and UK Youth Parliament over the past year has been great and I’d recommend it to anyone.

“Decision makers and organisations that work for young people listen to us and being on the Cabinet gives us a chance to represent Milton Keynes and ensure youth voice is taken seriously”.
