AN inquest will take place into the death of a woman at the Campbell Centre last month,
The female patient became ill at the centre, which provides in-patient psychiatric care, on May 22.
She was rushed to the neighbouring Accident and Emergency unit at Milton Keynes Hospital, but she died soon afterwards.
It is standard practice for an inquest to take place in such cases. The Citizen understands an internal investigation has already taken place but results will not be revealed until after the inquest.
A spokesman for Milton Keynes Community Health Services said: “We can confirm that a female patient became ill at the Campbell Centre on May 22. Staff at the mental health in-patient unit provided care at the scene until paramedics arrived.
“The woman was transferred to the Accident and Emergency unit at Milton Keynes Hospital where she later died. We would like to express our deepest sympathy with the patient’s family.
“Staff at the unit were deeply distressed by the news and, as in all cases where a detained patient dies in the care of the NHS, the death will be subject to a public inquest.”
