Canoe Club challenge for Willen Hospice

Milton Keynes Canoe Club have chosen Willen Hospice as their charity of the year.

As part of their fundraising drive six members of the club, based at Caldecotte Lake, will make a splash this Bank Holiday weekend by completing a three lake challenge across three countries in just one day.

On Saturday they will paddle the 25 mile Loch Awe in Scotland, followed by 12 miles of Lake Windemere from 3am on Sunday morning.

A quick shake dry and they’ll then move to Lake Bala, their final destination and a final seven mile stretch of water.

“What an incredible bank holiday challenge!” said Dawn Clark, fundraising manager at Willen Hospice.

“The dedication and generosity shown by Jez, Andrew, Adam, George, Maz and Paul as well as all the support staff behind the scenes is fantastic and we’re so grateful for their support.”

Richard Medley is one of the support team.

“The staff at Willen Hospice provide an invaluable service for those needing care and also for their families,” he said.

“Their compassion and support are amazing and were of great comfort when my grandfather stayed.

“Willen needs support to keep this service available for the future,” he added.
