RESIDENTS, families and staff at a city care home held their own version of a marathon on Saturday.
People from Tickford Abbey Care Home, Newport Pagnell, owned and managed by Greensleeves Homes Trust, did their own version of a marathon to help raise funds for the Home which saw them either step out for a mile walk or a helpful push in their wheelchairs.
Praise for the event has come from celebrity keep fit expert and Green Goddess, Diana Moran, who knows all about the benefits of healthy exercise.
Diana said: “It’s wonderful that Greensleeves Homes Trust is encouraging people to keep healthy and stay fit. It’s a huge accomplishment for people aged 80 plus to walk a distance of a mile and an example that appropriate exercise can be enjoyed at any age.”
Tickford Abbey is one of the seventeen homes owned by the Trust that took part in the sponsored walk.
Stuart Cross, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Greensleeves Homes Trust, said: “The day was fun, and promoted unity and a stronger sense of community throughout all our homes.”
