The Mayor and Mayoress of Milton Keynes, Cllr David Hopkins and his wife Susan, joined the cast of The Gondoliers at Stantonbury Theatre for the production, staged by Wolverton Gilbert and Sullivan Society, which proved very popular with audiences.
Cllr Hopkins met president Clarence Gill, a founder member of the society when it began in 1975, and two of the principals from the show, Elizabeth Healing and Luis Orozco (playing Casilda and Luiz respectively).
The Mayor said: “We have a vibrant arts and music community in Milton Keynes and I’m delighted to see such an active and long-standing group in performance; we’ve had a very enjoyable evening.”
Wolverton Gilbert & Sullivan Society’s next production is Showblitz! which takes place on Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24. Combining with Wolverton Light Orchestra, the society is presenting a fantastic selection of pieces from the musical theatre. Including songs from Wicked, Les Misérables, My Fair Lady and Sweeney Todd - there are many favourites featured in this fabulous miscellany of music.
Tickets are available from www.wolvertongands.co.uk/box-office/showblitz/ priced £12 and the curtain goes up at 7.30pm at Stantonbury Theatre, Milton Keynes, MK14 6BN.
