Cast your vote for your Spotlight fave

Eight young singer-songwriters are doing battle for the chance to bag an impressive £5000 worth of recording time.

Since launching in July, organisers have been whittling down entrants and there is now a hot list of eight finalists.

Each artist has played their best and done all they can do.

Now, Spotlight is asking you to help turn eight into four – by casting your vote online for your most preferred.

The eight acts in the running and in need of your support for Spotlight survival are:

Philipa Akers (MK)

Nancy Okai (MK)

Jasmine Oakley (MK)

Alex Wesley (MK)

Emmanuel Ademolu (MK)

Anelisa Lamola (London)

Karen Preet (Northampton)

Ben Callanan (Peterborough)

Voting is simple.

You’ll be able to investigate the players and listen to their sounds before making your choice.

Secklow Sounds Radio Station has pledged its support too.

Station director Mike Johnson said: “Secklow Sounds is delighted to be supporting Spotlight.

“The contest fits perfectly with our plans to promote local emerging musical talent.”

Voting is open until the end of the month.

The four with the most votes will then go through to the live final of the New Money Recordings event in the summer.

We’ll give you the dates and relevant info nearer the time, but for the moment click online, get acquainted with our rising musicians – five of the eight are from here in Milton Keynes – and make your decision.
