An entrepreneur has been personally congratulated for receiving a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.

Jan Flawn, founder and chair of PJ Care, was honoured last month for services to the care home business and charitable fundraising.

Milton Keynes South MP Iain Stewart visited her at the company’s offices in Bletchley to congratulate her.

He said: “I am delighted that Jan has been awarded a CBE. It is without a doubt thoroughly deserved.

“It is a fitting tribute to a woman who has contributed so much as an entrepreneur, as a pioneer of care services to support the most vulnerable people in society and as a generous supporter of wider charitable causes.”

Jan founded independent healthcare provider PJ Care in 2000, and now has two specialist neurological care centres in Milton Keynes – Bluebirds and Mallard House – and another in Peterborough.

She said: “I was so pleased Iain dropped in to see me, and offer me his kind words and congratulations.

“I have been overwhelmed by the response from so many people who have taken the time to contact me to say ‘well done’ – it means an awful lot to me.”
