SIMPLY pantastic fun – that was the verdict from the city’s oldest pancake tosser, 100-year-old Margaret Sharp.
She was one of a line up of contestants at Bletchley’s Caton House nursing home on Shrove Tuesday.
Margaret, who is due to celebrate her 101st birthday on March 20, said: “I enjoyed the pancake race, it was good fun and I am very fond of pancakes.”
Manager of the Sanctuary-run home Isobel Scott said: “Our residents absolutely love events like this, there was a lot of clapping and a lot of laughs and they really enjoyed themselves and had great fun.
“Events like this are great for reminiscence, helping to bring back memories of when the residents were children themselves or cooked pancakes for their children.”
Meanwhile, at the other end of the scale, tiny tots at the Busy Bees in Oldbrook became the youngest pancake racers in town. The children watched chef Maria make pancakes then enjoyed sampling them.
