CO-operative Group members in Milton Keynes are being invited to have a say in how the business is run and how it supports local communities,
The annual area members’ meeting at The Jury’s Inn, CMK on October 15, will be an opportunity to discuss business operations with elected members and Co-operative Group management.
Unlike other major UK retailers, The Co-operative Group is owned by almost six million consumers, rather than by a small group of shareholders.
Democracy has been part of the fabric of The Co-operative since it was founded in 1844. Members can stand for election to local and regional committees, helping to steer the business, input into decisions and acting as the voice of the consumer.
Paul Cranfield, The Co-operative group’s secretary for the Central and Eastern Region, said: “This meeting, and others like it, give our members an opportunity to get an insight into the running of the business, to comment on our policies and to influence the way we operate. Anyone can become a member of The Co-operative Group for just £1.”
