Charity stars celebrate a landmark and invite you to the ball for Emily's fund

The Emily's Star charity is celebrating the handover of its 2000th neonatal box and is planning a major fundraising event in March.

Set up in 2012 in memory of Emily Elizabeth who was born with a genetic disorder, the charity has been busy raising awareness of the condition.

Emily was just 26 days old when she died after being born with Trisomy 18, also known as Edwards Syndrome, where an extra chromosome leads to the condition.

Her mum Katie Elmer, who founded the charity, said: The Emily’s Star team has worked hard over the last five years to raise awareness of the condition which Emily had, as it was previously unknown to us all although being the second most common syndrome in the UK after Down’s Syndrome.

“Emily’s Star has achieved so much in such a short time helping over 2,000 families, raising over £200,000 and supporting 21 neonatal units in England.”

The Blue Ball is being held at The Jurys Inn, Milton Keynes, and is supported by being supported by local companies, entertainers and people.
