The new Wavendon Gate play area, recently installed by Milton Keynes Council, was officially unveiled on Sunday, March 25.

The creation of the play area followed a successful bid by Walton Community Council to WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd).

The Mayor of Milton Keynes, Cllr David Hopkins, cut the ribbon to officially open the new play area, and the launch was attended by more than 50 children, along with family and friends.

A fun day was had by all, with the children enjoying the new equipment, a crafting table, an Easter egg hunt and fun games organised by Walton Community Council.

Another project for the Walton community is progressing well.

The first phase of works have been completed for the Hindhead Knoll Project

This has included installation of permanent uplighters under the conifers, removal of overgrown shrubs in the areas at the west end, either side of the redway, installation of formal entrances at the east end, including dropped kerb crossings and footpaths along with a vehicular access point. During the spring, there will be planting of bulbs and re-seeding the cleared area closest to the conifers, clearing paths, and planting schemes. A priority for 2018/19 is to obtain funding and commission a sculpture to become a focal point.
