Citizen funds Fishermead project

The Citizen has teamed up with MK Community Foundation to award the grants which mark the charity’s 30 year anniversary.

The club itself is run by local residents every Wednesday at the Fishermead Trinity Centre, and is open to everyone in Milton Keynes.

“This club is so much more than just being about craft,” said Kaymarie Smith, programmes officer with the MK Community Foundation.

“It really offers life changing experiences and tools for local people.

“They can feel confident that they are in the company of people that are friendly and will not judge.”

The funding will provide materials for woodwork, sewing, baking and cake decorating, jewellery making and general crafts, including the purchase of a new sewing machine.

“We’d love to have more local people joining the group, get involved and share their skills,” said club chairman Caroline McDevitt.

“We’re a very friendly group and are all here to have fun. People can bring projects along that they’d like some help with or we have activities that they can have a go at when they arrive.

“This project has made such a difference to peoples’ confidence levels and we want people of all ages and abilities to come along and join in,” she added.
