Milton Keynes will soon be hosting its own crazy bike race to welcome in the London 2012 Olympics, but the riders won’t be going anywhere.

On Friday, July 27, 20 city cyclists will be on static bikes to power a cinema in Margaret Powell Square in front of MK Theatre from 11.30am to 2.30pm.

This free event is being organised by Independent Cinema MK in association with Milton Keynes Festival Fringe, with London based company: Magnificent Revolution.

A selection of family friendly animations chosen by Horrible History’s animator Tim Searle will be screened, including some old favourites like Bugs Bunny. The vintage Ra Ra Gals will also be on hand to serve you wonderful homemade cakes and refreshments.

The cycle-powered cinema will highlight our energy use, whilst providing “wheelie fun” entertainment.

They need a core team of fit cyclists, so if you’re bonkers about biking please email: This event is supported with funding from Milton Keynes Council & Arts Council England and with goodwill and assistance from MK Theatre, MK Christian Foundation, Baby Cow Animation and MK Gallery.
