Children are being invited to pick up free cress seeds from a garden centre in the county next month as part of its Spring Gardening Celebration.
Youngsters who complete an activity sheet can collect free packets of seeds, while stocks last, at Wyevale Woburn Sands Garden Centre on Newport Road from April 14 to 29.
Manager of the garden centre, Dominic Wright said: “During our Spring Gardening Celebration, which takes place from Saturday, April 14 until Sunday, April 29, we will be handing out free activity sheets to give youngsters tips on how to grow cress in all varieties of containers including yoghurt pots.
“Children who complete the activity sheets will be given a packet of cress seeds so they can grow their own cress hair.”
The event coincides with the Royal Horticultural Society’s (RHS) National Gardening Week, which takes place from April 16 until 22 and is aimed at encouraging everyone to get involved in gardening.
Dominic added: “During our Spring Gardening Celebration, staff will be on hand to give visitors complimentary advice on looking after their gardens this spring.
“Experts will also be on-hand on selected days during the fortnight to host talks on herbaceous borders.”
The Spring Gardening Celebration is part of a series of free events being organised at Wyevale Woburn Sands Garden Centre throughout the year on a number of different gardening topics.
