Could you change a child’s life by becoming a foster carer?
Foster carers are needed in this area to help the many children waiting for a home.
There’s a chance to find out more about what’s involved, at an event run by foster agency Fosterplus at the Milton Keynes Xscape on October 17.
A child is taken into care every 22 minutes across the UK and another 8,600 foster carers are needed to provide homes for these children.
Andrew came to live with Sally and David when he was five years old. He had been removed from his parents due to neglect and had experienced four different placements in five months.
He had difficulty walking, due to not having been active at home, and his speech was delayed due to lack of stimulation in his early years.
Sally and David were fully supported in managing Andrew’s complex needs.
Two years on, he is an energetic, active little boy who enjoys football, swimming and riding his bike, and who calls Sally and David Mum and Dad.
His speech is greatly improved and, he is more able to communicate with others.
It has now been agreed that Andrew will be staying with Sally and David permanently,
