Community Action MK is looking for caring, passionate people to volunteer in one of the following roles.

Men in Sheds: Activity Co-ordinator

Men In Sheds MK provides a place for older men to meet, socialise and engage in rewarding activities. This includes wood and metal working, model making, computing and extends to cookery, gardening & photography.

Currently between 30 to 40 men visit the shed each week. They are looking for a personable individual who likes to help people, who is well versed in wood working skills, has the patience to tutor those unskilled in the use of woodwork tools, knows his way about a workshop, in particular, the tools and their safe operation to get involved in a couple of projects. These include making boxes for tools to be shipped out to Africa and building bird boxes.

The Activity Co-ordinator will not be required to organise or manage the workshop, existing members already do this but they would have to source materials, some of which is available free, others need to be bought in.

The volunteer will need to be available at least three mornings, 10am to 1pm.

Deanshanger Air Rifle Club (Target Shooting for the Blind & Visually Impaired): Car driver/Spotter

A car owner is needed to drive one or more members to and from the club, assist in setting up and dismantling the equipment and act as a spotter - guiding the shooters towards the middle of their targets and reporting results.

They must be able to stand behind the shooter and look over their shoulder so there may be possible restrictions for people with a disability. Volunteers need to be 18 years and over and be free to attend an informal discussion.

Advantage Africa is a small, dynamic organisation supporting development work with vulnerable people in East Africa. The finance function exists to ensure efficient and effective financial management of the resources available. There is a steady stream of income to be managed.

The volunteer will help the Finance Officer process income from a variety of different sources. Other tasks include reconciling and processing transactions on a bank account in Kenya, processing donations, and other tasks based on time, skills and enthusiasm for the role. Volunteers will need to commit on a regular basis for around two days a month based at their offices in Olney or from home.

Carers, Milton Keynes: Drivers - Social Care Project

All drivers need a full, clean driving licence, access to a four door car, insurance and will need to be DBS checked.
