People wondering how to dispose of broken electrical goods have been handed a green solution in the form of a city wide recycling day.

Everything from old computers to unwanted fridges will be accepted during the first event of its kind coming up at The National Bowl.

Residents, businesses and organisations are invited to take along their unwanted electrical goods any time between 8am and 3.30pm next Friday, September 13.

The service is free and staff will be on hand to help with unloading.

Hosted by the European Recycling Platform and supported by Milton Keynes Council and Milton Keynes Chamber of Commerce, the event is designed to increase the amount of electronic waste recycled in the city.

All the collected items will be sorted and recycled for parts and materials.

Items welcomed include mobile phones, games consoles, microwaves, dishwashers, ovens, battery operated toys, power tools, televisions, radios, heaters and even low energy light bulbs.

“Bring along anything with a battery or plug on it,” said a spokesman.
