Council say pub in Milton Keynes should be demolished to make way for housing

Council officers are recommending that an estate's pub be demolished to make way for new housing.

The move to bulldoze the Suffolk Punch at Heelands comes despite a two-year battle and objections from ward councillors and many residents.

High Street Homes’ planning application to build 27 houses and a community hall will be considered by the development control committee on March 9.

Already officers have recommended it be granted subject to conditions.

Officers say the proposed community hall will compensate for the loss of a central hub and public amenity on the estate.
