Council welcomes £390k boost toward regeneration in Milton Keynes

Regeneration in Milton Keynes has received a vote of confidence from the government with a £390,000 grant to support the programme.

The money will be used to help pay for some of the crucial support services such as master planners, financial advisors and designers.

These experts will work with communities and residents to develop options for future neighbourhoods and housing.

Councillor Nigel Long said: “We were delighted that this bid was successful.

“It will enable YourMK (the Council’s regeneration partner) to increase their capacity so that they can work closely with local communities to bring about the type of regeneration that they wish to see.”

David Gleeson, managing director of YourMK added: “This is a real boost for YourMK’s regeneration plans.

“As well as this financial contribution, having the backing of the Department for Communities and Local Government will be very valuable as we progress.

“The government team visited Milton Keynes, reviewed some of our priority estates with YourMK and discussed our proposals relating to community led regeneration.

“They have allocated the full amount we requested to assist us in our endeavours to deliver regeneration for Milton Keynes.”

YourMK is currently analysing the outcomes of a comprehensive survey of all council properties and will make an announcement about the next stage of regeneration in the next few months.
