They also want to ensure that every property has smoke alarms.

“We have private rented housing alongside council housing and owner occupier homes. All were built in the 1970s and we must ensure they are safe. That is why we want to review safety across the community.”
Cllr Mohamed Khan, who was brought up on the estate added, “I visited the property after the fire. I am concerned that every house should have smoke detectors. We will talk to council officers about this.”
Cllr Alan Webb, who lived on the Lakes for many years added: “There is a great sense of community on the Lakes. We need to ensure all properties are safe from fire. I support asking the Fire service and Council to undertake a review of fire safety across all the estate regardless of tenure.”
