16 people a day arrested by police in Milton Keynes

Police are currently arresting an average of 16 people a day in Milton Keynes, a custody officer has revealed.

Last week 115 people were arrested and taken into custody at the cells in MK police station, said the officer, who has published an account of 'A Week in Milton Keynes custody' on the force Facebook page.

The offences for which the arrests were made include assaults, criminal damage, drug crimes, sexual offences (including rape), driving offences, public order crimes, domestic related offences, theft and burglary and kidnap.

He wrote: "I have recently taken on a new role as a custody sergeant and I thought it would good to share a little information from within custody with the good people of Milton Keynes. To give you an example of how many suspects are brought in each week I have broken down to last seven days of arrests and disposals."

On Monday last week police held 18 suspects. Eight were released on bail, one was cautioned and three were released under investigation (RUI) The others were refused charge.

Tuesday saw 13 suspects of which two were released on bail, one cautioned, and four were RUI, One person was charged and held on remand and one was held on warrant. The others were refused charge.

On Wednesday there were 16 suspects. Two were charged, four were bailed and four were RUI. One was charged and held on remand and two were held on warrants. The others were refused charge.

Thursday saw 18 suspects, of which two were charged, six released on bail, and one was RUI. Seven were charged and remanded and the others were refused charge.

Friday was unexpectedly quiet with 13 suspects. Seven were released on bail, one was RUI, three were charged and held on remand and one person was recalled to prison. The other was refused charge.

Saturday, the busiest day of the week, saw 19 suspects, of which six were charged, two released on bail, and one was cautioned. four were charged and held on remand, one was held on warrant and the others were refused charge.

Sunday produced 18 suspects. Four were charged, five released on bail and two were RUI. Twowere charged and remanded and one person was held on warrant. The others were refused charge.

The officer said: "That’s 115 suspects and each one of these cases will take hours of investigation for the officer in case...As you can see we have been extremely busy."
