A teenager who robbed a 15-year-old boy of his bike has been sent to a young offenders’ institution for 20 months.

Kyle Fowler, aged 19, of Westfield Road, Dunstable, was part of a gang who approached the teenage victim at Willen Lake on July 23.

They surrounded the boy and threatened to attack him if he did not hand over his bike to them. A police search of the area found the gang in possession of the bike and four teenagers were arrested.

Fowler was later identified by the victim as one of the robbers in an identity parade and pleaded guilty to the offence. He was sentenced to 20 months in prison at Aylesbury Crown Court last Tuesday.

Detective Constable Dave Phipps, of Milton Keynes CID, said: “Even though violence was only threatened and not used, and even though he admitted carrying it out, Fowler has received a substantial sentence.

“At the time, I am sure he did not realise the seriousness of what he was doing. But the reality is he used intimidation to carry out a robbery and steal a bike. And the sentence he has been given means he faces this Christmas behind bars.

“I hope this serves as a reminder to anyone else who thinks behaviour like this is acceptable, to think again.”
