A cyclist who has represented England in duathlons and triathlons is appealing for help after her bike, worth £1,500, was stolen in Wolverton.

Tracey Haseldine, of Greenleys, was cycling home from work when she stopped to pay in a cheque at the Nationwide Building Society.

She admits she didn’t lock the Trek 5200 bike but was keeping a close watch on it – when an opportunist thief struck. She said: “As I walked up to the counter I took a final look at it and then as I was asked if I wanted anything else I turned back for a second and it was gone.

“I tried to run after him but I had my open purse in one hand and my bag over my shoulder as well as my biking shoes.

“That bike is my main mode of transport and it was set up purely for me so I don’t know what someone else could use it for. I have an Ironman race in four weeks so it’s ruined my training.”

Anyone with information can call police on 101.
