A former Milton Keynes councillor has pleaded guilty to possessing pornographic pictures involving children and bestiality.

Retired college lecturer John Hawthorn, 69, admitted five charges at MK magistrates court on Tuesday.

Police searched his Two Mile Ash home more than two years ago and seized his computer equipment.

Mr Hawthorn, who served Stony Stratford ward as a Conservative for four years, is charged with two counts of possessing “extreme” pornographic images portraying an act of intercourse/oral sex with a dead/alive animal.

He is charged with two counts of possessing images involving bestiality and young children, as well as one count of making an indecent/pseudo photograph of a child.

Mr Hawthorn, who now lives in Bedford, is a former chairman of Two Mile Ash parish council, on which he sat for 13 years.

He resigned due to ill health from both the parish council and Milton Keynes Council early in 2014.

He was granted bail and will be committed to Crown Court for sentencing.
