An ex-professional footballer has been cleared of raping a woman after she had sex with his old teammate.
Former Gillingham FC striker Nathan Nyafli, 21, was accused of forcing himself on a 22-year-old woman at a flat in Maidstone, Kent.
The victim only protested after the player she had consensual sex with - Bradley Dack - re-entered a bedroom naked and performed a sex act.
His trial at Maidstone Crown Court heard over the course of 10 hours the victim downed a glass of wine, four Desperado beers, two vodka and cokes and a shot of tequila.
The victim had travelled from the North to Maidstone, Kent, to go clubbing with a friend when she bumped into the Gillingham FC players.
She claimed Nyafli, who trained with MK Dons as a youngster, raped her while she was in a deep sleep. But Nyafli told the court the woman was awake, recognised him, and consented to sex.
The rape allegation came after the footballers were on a night out on May 7 last year with another current Gills player Michael Freiter.
Nyafli and his family showed their relief as a jury of eight men and four women found him not guilty.
Nyafli, of Sandling, Kent, was forced into early retirement through injury.
