Four people arrested over firearm scare in Milton Keynes town

The armed police raid in Newport Pagnell this morning was launched after reports that a firearm had been seen in a vehicle carrying four people.

Officers stopped the vehicle in Pennycress Way, just off Little Linford Lane and close to the town's motorway service station.

Though no firearm was found, four people were arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.

They were also arrested for possession of a class A drug.

All four people are currently in police custody.

A police spokesman confirmed: "Thames Valley Police officers were called earlier today following reports that a firearm had been seen in a vehicle in Newport Pagnell.

Officers stopped the vehicle in Pennycress Way. No firearm was located, but four people were arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a class A drug."
