The Cross Keys at Woolstone put out the rattan-style tables and dozens of chairs to allow customers to keep at a safe social distance in the fresh air.

But during Sunday night the whole lot disappeared.

A spokesman for the pub said on Monday: "It is with the greatest of sadness that upon arriving to work this morning we were to find somebody has stolen our outside furniture.

"As a small family run business in these uncertain times, this has devastated us...This limits seating for our guests to enjoy the beautiful sunshine."

The pub has asked anyone hearing of a large quantity of rattan furniture for sale to send them a private message.

They are currently going through their CCTV in the hope they can identify the people responsible.

Customers have reacted with fury to the theft. Some have vowed to support the pub by bringing their own blanket to sit on outside, while others have offered to set up a fundraising page to buy replacement furniture.

One customer said: " As if things aren’t already hard enough for the hospitality industry right now. I hope you find the culprit and are able to keep your guests happy."
