MK Council is working with police to curb the problems at Granby Court flats in Bletchley, where frequent reports are made of crime, ASB and drug activities.

Although police patrols of the area are carried out regularly on foot, this hasn’t proved to be enough of a deterrent, says the council.

Now permanent CCTV cameras are to be fitted to cover every inch of the flats. These will act as a deterrent to criminal activity and also provide vital, quality CCTV footage in the event of a crime or incident taking place.

Labour Councillor for Bletchley Park, Elaine Wales said: “Granby Court has been a hotspot for anti-social behaviour for some time and it is a concern to residents, the Council and Thames Valley Police.”

She added; “I’m pleased to see that the council is working closely with the Police to find a permanent deterrent to crime in the area and hope that this will lead to a decrease in ASB and improve the lives of local residents.”

Milton Keynes Council is committed to tackling anti-social behaviour, providing funding for mobile CCTV to reduce ASB and fly tipping across the city.
