A man charged with the manslaughter of city tattooist Joe Kent will face a retrial in October.

Samir Bostan, 26, of Wolston Meadow, Middleton, had been charged with manslaughter but after an extensive trial the jury failed to reach a verdict.

Mr Kent, 24, died outside the Xscape building in January last year after he was punched twice, with the second causing him the fatal injuries.

He had been celebrating with his wife Emma for her birthday when a confrontation took place outside KFC.

The last day of the trial was on February 14 and after the jury failed to reach a verdict Mr Bostan was remanded in custody.

He will remain there until the retrial which is scheduled for October 20.
