David Guilfoyle, who lives on Porthcrawl Green in Tattenhoe, appeared before MK magistrates last week charged with possessing a sharp, bladed object, namely a vegetable knife, in Bletchley on November 9 last year.

He pleaded guilty and, on top of the suspended sentence, was put under a curfew with electronic monitoring for 12 months.

The curfew requires him to stay inside his home address between 8pm and 6am from Monday to Friday each week.

The magistrates stated their reason for imposing the suspended sentence was the seriousness of the offence, which came to light during a "serious fracas" in the street.

The defendant was not brandishing the knife, the court heard.
