Man jailed for domestic-related GBH

A 34-year-old man from Lambert’s Croft in Greenleys has been sentenced to ten years in prison for carrying out a domestic-related grievous bodily harm with intent.

Roddie Hamilton pleaded guilty and was sentenced at Huntingdon Crown court on Wednesday.

He held his 22-year-old partner for over a week against her will at their home between March 22 and March 28 this year. During the time she was held, Hamilton inflicted injuries on the victim which were described by the judge as “extremely grave”.

Hamilton was arrested and charged with the offence on March 30.

Detective Inspector Dave Dachtler said: “This was a terrible experience for the victim and the sentence quite rightly reflects this. Domestic violence is taken very seriously by Thames Valley police and will, as in this case, be investigated and prosecuted to the very best of our abilities. Offences will be handled in a way that is positive and sensitive towards the victims taking into consideration their safety and their wishes.”
