Action Fraud had the following message to reiterate, the post read: "Your bank, or any other official organisation wont ask for you to share personal information over email or text.

"If you need to check that it's a genuine message call them directly. Spotted a suspicious email? Forward it to the Suspicious Email Reporting Service - [email protected]."

Trading Standards Milton Keynes also received a report yesterday regarding a fraudulent text from people purporting to be from HSBC. The fraud worked in the same way as the popular Sainsbury's scam, with the text encouraging victims to click on a link that leads to a phishing site.
